The Merchandise list supports multi-select so you can publish, pause, or remove many rules in a single action — useful for seasonal launches, sale cleanup, or quickly reverting a batch of rules.

Steps

  1. Go to Merchandise.
  2. Use the search box, status filter, or any column filter to narrow the list to the rules you want to act on.
  3. Click Select in the actions column header to enter selection mode.
  4. Tick the checkbox on each rule. To select a range, click the first checkbox, then hold Shift and click the last one — every row in between is selected automatically.
  5. (Optional) Open the selected dropdown next to the row count and click Select all results to extend your selection to every rule that matches the current filters, including rules on other pages. If no filters are active, the option becomes Select all in this store.
  6. Open the Actions dropdown and choose one of the following:
    • Publish — Enables every selected rule so it applies on the storefront.
    • Unpublish — Pauses selected rules without deleting them. Configuration is preserved and rules can be republished at any time.
    • Delete — Permanently removes the selected rules. A confirmation dialog appears before the deletion runs.
  7. When you’re done, click Actions → Done selecting to exit selection mode.

Selection scope

The dropdown next to the selection count shows how many rules are currently selected and lets you switch between two scopes:
  • Page selection (default) — Only the rows you ticked are included.
  • All results — Every rule matching your current search, filters, and sort is included, even rules on other pages. The count shows the full filtered total.
To narrow an All results selection, click Unselect all from the same dropdown and re-tick individual rows.

Background processing for large selections

When you run an action against All results, Layers queues the work in the background. You’ll see a confirmation message such as “Merchandising rule update queued” and the list refreshes once the action finishes. This keeps the dashboard responsive when you act on thousands of rules at once. You can continue working while the job runs.
Combine the Status filter with Select all results to flip every paused rule live for a sale, then revert with a second bulk Unpublish when the campaign ends.
Delete is permanent. If you only want to pause a rule, use Unpublish so you can republish later without rebuilding pins, expressions, or conditions. Recently deleted rules can sometimes be recovered — see Restore a deleted merchandising rule.

Troubleshooting

  • The queued action hasn’t finished. Background jobs process in the order they’re received. Refresh the page after a minute or two; very large selections can take longer.
  • My filters reset after the action ran. The Merchandise list returns to its default view once a queued action completes. Re-apply your filters from the toolbar to continue.
  • The “Select all results” option isn’t visible. It only appears when at least one row is checked and there are more matching rules than fit on the current page.
  • A preview rule appears in my selection. Preview rules are excluded from bulk publish, unpublish, and delete actions automatically — only saved rules are processed.
