What you can do

  • Upload an image from your computer, drag and drop it, or pick one from your Shopify store media.
  • Draw a crop selection on the preview to search by a specific area of the image (for example, a single product in a lifestyle photo).
  • Search by the full image or the selected area and browse the visually similar products the storefront would return.
  • Change page, sort, or filters without re-uploading — the same image is reused across refinements.

Steps

  1. Go to LabTest Image Search.
  2. Provide an image in one of these ways:
    • Drag and drop an image onto the upload area.
    • Click Select image to pick a file from your computer.
    • Click Shopify media to pick an existing image from your store’s media library.
  3. (Optional) On the preview, click and drag to draw a crop selection over the part of the image you want to search. Use Reset to start over.
  4. Click Search full image to search using the whole image, or Search selection to search using only the cropped area.
  5. Review the results. Adjust sort, filters, or pagination to keep exploring — the image stays loaded until you replace it.
Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC, and HEIF.

When to use crop

Use the crop selection when the source image contains more than one product, a busy background, or accessories you don’t want influencing the match. Narrowing the search area to a single item usually returns tighter, more relevant results than searching the whole scene.

Tips

  • Try different images to spot any gaps in your catalog coverage.
  • If a lifestyle photo returns off-target results, crop to the specific product and search the selection instead.
  • Picking from Shopify media is a fast way to test how a real product image ranks against your own catalog.
