New products have no sales history, so a sales-based sort like Best Selling places them near the bottom. Choose the approach that fits the collection.

Option 1: Sort the collection by newest

Use this for a New Arrivals collection, where the newest products should lead.
  1. Go to Catalog → Collections and open the collection.
  2. Set its Default Sort Order to Newest, which ranks the most recently published products first.
See Sort order recipes.

Option 2: Mix new products into a sales-based sort

Use this when best sellers should still lead, but new products shouldn’t be buried.
  1. Tag your new products in Shopify, for example with new.
  2. Go to Merchandise → Merchandising Rules and create a rule for the collection and its default sort order.
  3. In the Expressions tab, add a Soft Boost where tags contains new.
  4. Choose Lift matches into view, which moves matches up even when they have no sales yet.
  5. Set How high should matches land?, and keep Keep matches spaced out on so new products are spread between best sellers.
  6. Publish the rule.
Remove the tag after the launch period so products compete on sales alone. See Soft boost expressions.
To place a few hero launches in exact positions, pin them in the same rule. Pins take priority over the soft boost. See Pins.
