When to use this

  • You updated a product in Shopify and the changes are not appearing in Layers.
  • Inventory levels for a product are out of sync.
  • Product variants, metafields, or collections need to be refreshed.

Steps

  1. In the dashboard, go to Catalog → Products.
  2. Find the product in the list and click the actions menu (three dots).
  3. Click Sync from Shopify.
  4. Wait for the sync to complete, then review the product details.
You can also run Sync from Shopify or Push to Index from the product’s own page. Syncing requires the Run operations permission.

What gets synced

  • Product data (title, description, images, etc.)
  • All product variants
  • Variant metafields
  • Product collections
  • Inventory levels across all locations (if inventory sync is enabled)

Resync several products at once

The Catalog list supports bulk selection when you need to refresh more than one product without reindexing the entire catalog.
  1. Go to Catalog → Products.
  2. Tick the checkbox at the start of each product row you want to act on. Use Shift+click to select a range. A toolbar appears above the list showing how many products you selected.
  3. To select every product that matches your current search and filters, open the selected count dropdown and choose the select-all option.
  4. Click one of the actions in the toolbar:
    • Sync from Shopify — Refetches each selected product from Shopify, the same as running Sync from Shopify on a single row.
    • Push to Index — Republishes the selected products to the search index without re-fetching from Shopify. Use this when the product data in Layers is correct but a search or block is not returning it.
  5. To clear your selection, open the selected count dropdown and click Unselect all.

Resync from Shopify admin

You can also queue the same resync without leaving Shopify. On the product page in Shopify admin, open More actions and click Resync in Layers. See Shopify admin extensions.

Tips

  • Use single-row Sync from Shopify when only one product changed to save time.
  • Reach for Push to Index when Shopify hasn’t changed but products still aren’t appearing in search or recommendations. It’s faster than a full resync because it skips the Shopify fetch.
  • The sync respects your store’s inventory sync settings and permissions.
