# Creating a crawler signature

> Create a Shopify crawler signature and share it with Layers to enable authenticated image fetching and accelerate the initial product media sync.

Stores with larger catalogs may hit rate limits when Layers crawls product images. A crawler signature lets Layers authenticate its image requests, reducing blocks and speeding up media syncing.

## Prerequisites

* You have a Shopify store with Layers installed.
* You have access to your Shopify admin.

## Create a crawler signature in Shopify

1. In your Shopify admin, go to **Online Store → Preferences**.
2. Follow Shopify's guide to [create a crawler signature](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/promoting-marketing/seo/crawling-your-store#create).
3. Copy the following values:

   * Your **Signature-Input** value
   * Your **Signature** value

## Send the values to Layers support

Send the **Signature-Input** and **Signature** values to [Layers Support](mailto:support@uselayers.com). The team configures these in your store settings so Layers can authenticate its image requests.
