# Shopify search reports after switching to Layers

> Why Shopify's search reports drop to zero once Layers powers your storefront search, and where to find search analytics instead.

After you switch your storefront search to Layers, Shopify's search reports, such as top online store searches, can drop to zero or close to it. That's expected and doesn't mean search stopped working.

## Why it happens

Shopify only reports searches its own search handles. Once your theme sends search to Layers, Shopify never sees those searches, so it has nothing to report. Any searches still left in Shopify's reports come from places your theme hasn't switched over, such as a search page or app that still uses Shopify search.

## Where to find search analytics

Use Layers instead:

* Your [analytics dashboards](https://docs.uselayers.com/help/analytics/dashboards.md) include search volume, orders, and revenue on the default dashboard. Add search-term reports to see searches, clicks, and conversions for each term.
* Open any search term to see its [performance panel](https://docs.uselayers.com/platform/metrics.md#performance-panel).
* See the [metrics glossary](https://docs.uselayers.com/help/analytics/metrics-glossary.md) for what each number means and how it compares with Shopify.

Shopify's sales and conversion reports are unaffected. Orders still go through Shopify checkout.
